Blue on Paper

In the school archive, Lio found a map that showed a lake where the football field stood. His friend Bea thought it was a printing mistake. They borrowed measuring tape from the science room and followed the faded shoreline through town. Near the bakery, a storm drain breathed cool air. Beneath the grate they heard running water, though it had not rained for weeks. Lio wanted to climb down. Bea stopped him. They photographed the drain and asked their science teacher what it meant.
